Flora And Fauna
The canopied rain forests of the islands are home to 3,000 species of plants including mangroves, timbers (teak, mahogany), epiphytes (130 ferns, 100 orchids), palms, woody climbers, and a wide variety of tropical fruits. The marine fauna is diverse and includes a wide variety of tropical fish and coral. Due to the diversity and uniqueness of fauna and flora on these islands, 96 sanctuaries and 9 National Parks have been built here.
